We are a professional organization of personal historians, based in large part in the Pacific
Northwest.
Our organization is dedicated to helping you create, preserve and share the stories you care about and to supporting our members as producers of comprehensive personal histories.
We are writers, editors, interviewers, designers, audiographers, videographers, transcriptionists, translators, indexers, digital media experts and other professionals.
PHNW formed in 2018, after the national Association of Personal Historians closed. Previously, the group had been meeting as a subgroup of APH since the successful 2004 APH national convention held in Portland, Oregon.
Prior to Covid, all members were personal historians in Oregon and Washington and the group was meeting in person five times a year. With the lockdown, the group started more frequent Zoom meetings and has added new members in British Columbia and California.
We welcome people who are Personal Historians, or are considering becoming a Personal Historian, to come to a meeting of our organization and see if we offer value to their professional life.
If you are interested in joining, annual dues of $20 begin starting the second meeting, understanding that all in-person events, when possible, will be in Oregon and Washington, with efforts for hybrid meetings at those events.
If you want to know more about our organization, please contact Jeanne Quan or Connie Shipley, co-chairs, at their contact information on our membership list.
