Personal Historians Network West (PHNW) was originally established as Personal Historians Northwest in 2018, following the closure of the national Association of Personal Historians. Since then, members have gathered as a regional group under the PHNW name. The name Personal Historians Network West was established in 2025, to reflect the group’s expanded regional reach and inclusivity.
Currently, our meetings are held on Zoom and our membership extends across western North America, including Canada and the United States, but does not include states which have existing Personal Historian groups (see a list of those associations here).
We welcome new members who are personal historians or life story professionals, or who are considering this field. If you are interested in joining, you are welcome to visit for a meeting. Those accepted for membership pay annual dues of $35 starting after their first meeting.
Our meetings are generally the second Monday of each month from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm Pacific time.
